1. Set the geographic boundary before reviewing stories
The Census record identifies Sturtevant village as a municipality in Racine County, Wisconsin. A local legal-news page should not blur those geographic levels. A story about an event in Sturtevant is not automatically a Racine County story, and a Wisconsin law change is not automatically a Sturtevant-specific development. The firm should decide which locations it actually serves and how each page will describe them. Population can help confirm that Sturtevant is a defined place to evaluate, but it cannot establish that residents are searching, that another firm is competing for those searches, or that a story will produce an inquiry.
Recommended approach
During the consultation, ask for a geographic coverage review covering Sturtevant, Racine County and Wisconsin as separate choices. Approve wording that identifies the location of the event, the scope of the law and the firm’s actual service area. Do not use the Sturtevant population estimate as a forecast.
