1. Set the geographic boundary before interpreting a lead
Shawano city and Shawano County are not interchangeable labels. A resident of Shawano city, a person elsewhere in Shawano County and a person outside the county who contacts a firm serving the area may represent different service areas. The Census record identifies Shawano city as a municipality in Shawano County and reports 9,522 residents for the 2020–2024 ACS period. It does not show where prospective clients search, where matters originate or whether a particular location page produces qualified inquiries. Lead Attribution should therefore preserve the geography attached to each journey rather than turning one population figure into a demand forecast.
Recommended approach
During consultation, define the geographic labels your firm actually uses for service areas, landing pages, intake questions and reporting. Review whether a lead’s location is captured as an intake answer, a page context or a separate qualification field. Keep city, county and broader Wisconsin service areas distinct when judging which pages and channels deserve attention.
