1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The Census records Salem Lakes as a municipality in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. A firm may serve clients in Salem Lakes, elsewhere in Kenosha County or across a broader service area, but those are different geographic questions. Population data cannot tell you how many people need legal help, how many search for a lawyer, or how many inquiries a particular page or channel will produce. It can, however, help you define the place names and service boundaries that should be reviewed in your reporting. Lead Attribution can then show the landing page, referrer and channel associated with an individual inquiry, rather than treating every local visit as evidence of a case opportunity.
Recommended approach
Before changing spend or expanding geographic coverage, agree on the locations and legal services your firm wants to evaluate. In the consultation, ask to review whether those distinctions can appear in the journey record and roll-up reporting without turning population into a demand forecast.
