Start with the service area you will actually accept
Google Local Services Ads can be configured around practice areas and service zones. For a firm serving Onalaska, the first question is not whether to label every nearby place as part of the market. It is whether the firm can consistently accept and serve matters from Onalaska and the surrounding locations it selects. Onalaska’s recorded county relationship is La Crosse County, but the town, the county, and any broader metropolitan area are different geographic scopes. They should not be treated as interchangeable. A small town population estimate cannot establish how many people search for a lawyer, how many firms compete, or how many inquiries a campaign will produce.
Recommended approach
Define an acceptable service area by matter type, office capacity, court or client-service considerations, and conflict-screening policy. Review Onalaska and La Crosse County separately in the consultation rather than assuming that countywide coverage is appropriate. If the firm serves a wider area, decide which locations should be included and which should be excluded before evaluating budget.
