1. Define the geography before you interpret a number
New London, Outagamie County and Waupaca County are not interchangeable reporting scopes. A dashboard view for the city should not be treated as a county-wide result, and a Wisconsin-wide ranking should not be presented as evidence of performance in New London. Ask how location labels are defined for keywords, calls, forms and attributed matters. Also decide whether a caller’s location, the page they visited, the service area selected in a form or the target location in a keyword is the relevant geographic field. Those are different measurements. The Census record supplies a municipal boundary and county relationships, but it does not supply demand or prospective-client behavior.
Recommended approach
Create a written geographic dictionary before reviewing results. Require every location-based report to identify its scope and period. If the firm serves New London plus one or both listed counties, review those views separately rather than combining them into one headline number.
