1. Start with the firm’s actual geographic footprint
A Columbus law firm may serve people in Columbus, Columbia County, Dodge County, elsewhere in Wisconsin or a narrower area. Those are different geographic claims and should not be blended. The Census record identifies Columbus as a municipality and records relationships with Columbia County and Dodge County; it does not establish that every resident in either county is a prospective client or that the firm serves either county. AI SEO therefore begins with an accurate service-area decision: which places may the firm name, which places require separate legal information, and which places should remain outside the site’s claims?
Recommended approach
Bring a current list of locations served, office locations, court jurisdictions and practice areas to the consultation. Review whether each location statement is precise, consistent and supported by the firm’s own information. Do not create county or city pages solely because a place appears in a geographic database.
