1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
Burlington is a municipality in Wisconsin associated with Racine County and Walworth County. Those relationships matter when a firm decides whether a story belongs on a Burlington-facing page, a broader Wisconsin page, or both. They do not mean that every event in either county is relevant to the firm, and they do not establish that residents or households are searching for legal guidance. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring for stories in a firm’s state and matching them to practice areas. The firm still needs to define its service territory and decide whether county references, Wisconsin-wide developments or other geographic relationships belong in its coverage.
Recommended approach
Bring a written geographic policy to the consultation. Identify the municipalities, counties and broader Wisconsin audience the firm actually serves; separate that policy from the Burlington city record; and require each proposed article to explain why its geographic scope is useful to the intended reader. Treat Burlington, Racine County, Walworth County and Wisconsin as separate editorial choices rather than interchangeable labels.
