1. Define what “local” means before reading the numbers
A Dunbar firm may discuss Dunbar, Kanawha County, West Virginia or a wider service area, but those labels are not interchangeable. The Census record identifies Dunbar city as a municipality in Kanawha County and reports an estimated population of 7,254 for 2020–2024. That is useful for defining the place under review; it does not establish how many people need legal help, how many search online or how many would become clients. A dashboard should therefore make geographic definitions explicit. A ranking or lead associated with Dunbar should not automatically be treated as evidence about all of Kanawha County, and a county-level result should not be presented as a Dunbar result.
Recommended approach
Before a review, write down the exact geographic labels your firm wants to examine: Dunbar, Kanawha County, West Virginia and any other areas the firm actually serves. Ask how each location will appear in keyword, call, lead and case-type views. Do not approve a report until the geographic scope is clear enough that a partner can interpret it without guessing.
