1. Define the geographic footprint before setting the profile
Cheat Lake is a census-designated place in Monongalia County, West Virginia. That relationship matters because a Cheat Lake service area is not automatically the same thing as a countywide, metropolitan, or statewide campaign. The Census population estimate describes residents of the CDP; it does not establish how many people search for a lawyer, where prospective clients travel from, or whether your firm can accept matters throughout the county. Bosseo’s public Local Service Ads page describes category and geography targeting as part of its program. The practical decision is therefore one of eligibility and capacity: which locations may send a useful inquiry, and which locations should be excluded because the firm cannot serve them?
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area policy to the consultation. Identify Cheat Lake, Monongalia County, and any additional West Virginia areas separately. For each location, record whether the firm serves it, accepts consultations there, and wants inquiries from it. Treat any broader expansion as a decision to test and measure, not as an assumption based on population.
