1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
Brookhaven is a census-designated place in Monongalia County, West Virginia—not a synonym for the whole county or every community around it. A location label alone cannot establish that a visitor lives in Brookhaven, that a matter arose there or that the visitor found your firm through a Brookhaven page. Attribution is useful because it can preserve the landing page, referrer, channel and device associated with a visit, rather than forcing your team to rely on a general answer such as “Google.”
Recommended approach
Define the geographic fields you want to review before judging performance. Keep Brookhaven, Monongalia County, West Virginia and any broader service territory as separate reporting questions. Ask whether a lead’s service location comes from an intake answer, a page visited, a campaign label or another source. Do not treat the ACS population estimate as a forecast of inquiries.
