1. Set the geographic frame before reading a trend
The U.S. Census Bureau records Moses Lake as a municipality in Grant County. Its 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate is 26,083, with a margin of error of 38. That figure describes the city population; it does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, lead volume or revenue. For dashboard purposes, the important decision is which geography a number represents. A Moses Lake target, a Grant County target, a Washington target and a metropolitan-area target should not be treated as interchangeable. Ask which service-and-city targets are being tracked, whether surrounding communities are included, and how a firm should interpret a call from outside its preferred service area.
Recommended approach
Write the geographic rule into the measurement plan before reviewing performance. Require each ranking, lead and matter view to identify its location scope. If the firm serves Moses Lake and also accepts matters elsewhere in Grant County, review those areas separately rather than blending them into one local total.
