1. Define what “local” means for a Kent firm
Kent city is recorded in King County, Washington. That relationship is useful for setting an initial geographic boundary, but it does not mean every King County story is relevant to a Kent practice or that every Kent resident is a prospective client. A firm may serve Kent, other parts of King County, Washington, or a narrower service area. Those are different choices. Bosseo’s public Legal News page says its monitoring is organized around a firm’s state and practice areas, and that pages carry the firm’s practice areas and call to action. The page does not establish a Kent-specific coverage guarantee.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing examples, write down the locations the firm accepts, the Washington practice areas it wants represented, and the locations or topics it does not want covered. Ask Bosseo how a Kent-and-King-County brief would be handled and whether a story outside the firm’s actual service area would be excluded. Treat the population figure as context for geographic definition only, not as evidence that a news program will produce inquiries.
