1. Start with Kent’s actual service boundary
Your firm may describe its service area as Kent, King County or a wider Washington market. Those labels are not interchangeable. Kent is recorded as a municipality in King County, Washington, so the first automation decision is geographic: which inquiries belong in the Kent workflow, which belong in another service area and which require review before routing? Population data can help identify the place being discussed, but it cannot tell you how many people need legal help or how many inquiries your firm receives. Build the workflow around your firm’s stated coverage and real intake records rather than treating the city’s population as a forecast.
Recommended approach
On a consultation, define the geographic questions that affect ownership. Decide whether Kent inquiries follow the same path as other King County inquiries, whether service-area screening is needed and who reviews an inquiry that falls outside the firm’s scope. Keep those decisions separate from assumptions about demand.
