Start with the geography you actually serve
Bellingham is a municipality in Whatcom County, Washington. The 2020–2024 American Community Survey five-year estimate records 93,438 residents, with a margin of error of 64. That is location context, not proof of legal demand, search volume, competition, call volume or revenue. It also does not establish that every inquiry comes from the city, or that a county resident should be treated as a Bellingham lead. Attribution should preserve the distinction between the city, Whatcom County and any other service area your firm chooses to define.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing channel performance, agree on the geographic labels your team will use. Decide whether Bellingham and Whatcom County should be separate reporting views, and identify how an out-of-area inquiry should be recorded. The decision is operational: a page, referral or advertisement may generate an inquiry, but the firm still needs to determine whether the person and matter fit its service area.
