1. Start with the correct geographic footprint
South Boston and Halifax County are not interchangeable labels. The Census record identifies South Boston town as a municipality and records its county relationship as Halifax County. For a law firm, that distinction matters when deciding whether a page should address South Boston specifically, Halifax County more broadly, or additional places the firm genuinely serves. Population is eligibility evidence only. It cannot tell you whether people are searching, whether competitors are visible, or whether a particular service generates cases.
Recommended approach
During a Bosseo review, define the footprint in plain terms: South Boston only, Halifax County, a wider Virginia scope, or a combination that reflects actual service boundaries. Do not select a broad footprint merely because a town or county has a population estimate. Select it because the firm can accurately explain its services, eligibility, consultation process, and geographic limits there.
