1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
South Boston and Halifax County are related but not interchangeable. The Census record identifies South Boston town as a municipality and records its county relationship as Halifax County. A firm may serve people in South Boston, elsewhere in Halifax County, or a wider Virginia area, but those are separate decisions. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes coverage matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. That does not establish that every story is local to South Boston or that a state-level story will produce local clients.
Recommended approach
Define the service territory in the consultation: South Boston, Halifax County, a broader Virginia area, or another stated boundary. Then decide which stories merit a local explanation and which should remain state-level. Do not use the town’s population estimate as a forecast of demand. Treat it only as context for geographic scope.
