1. Define the geography before judging a source
Mount Vernon is recorded as the Mount Vernon CDP, with a county relationship to Fairfax County. A law firm may serve clients in the CDP, elsewhere in Fairfax County, the wider Washington metropolitan area or other parts of Virginia. Those are different geographic questions. A lead attributed to a Mount Vernon page is not automatically a Mount Vernon resident, and a Fairfax County inquiry is not necessarily a CDP inquiry. Bosseo’s public Lead Attribution page describes channel, referrer, landing page, device, sessions and intake answers as part of a lead journey.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing performance, decide which geographic fields matter to your practice: the page or campaign location, the caller’s stated service area, the matter location and the client’s address if your intake process collects it lawfully. Use those fields to interpret records, not to treat the local population estimate as evidence of demand. Ask in a consultation how geographic distinctions can be represented in the review.
