1. Start with the geographic boundary you actually serve
Herndon town is recorded in the Census data as a municipality, with county relationships to Fairfax County and Loudoun County. That distinction matters when you review attribution. A “Herndon” landing page, a broader Fairfax County page and a page intended for Loudoun County may represent different service-area choices. Population cannot tell you which area produces inquiries, which practice areas are relevant or which channel will perform. It can, however, help you define the geographic labels that should be reviewed in your records. Bosseo’s public Lead Attribution page says the system can show the landing page, channel, referrer and case type associated with a lead, including the city page that produced the inquiry. Review whether those fields would let your firm distinguish Herndon activity from broader county activity before changing budget or coverage.
Recommended approach
Create a written geography policy for reporting: decide how Herndon, Fairfax County and Loudoun County should be named, grouped and compared. Then ask to see how a journey is associated with a landing page and intake record. Do not treat the Census population estimate as a forecast of leads.
