Start with the geography your firm actually serves
Franconia is a CDP in Fairfax County, not a synonym for all of Northern Virginia or the Commonwealth. That distinction matters when a dashboard is used to review keyword coverage, calls, lead sources or case-type trends. A firm may want to examine Franconia separately, Fairfax County as a broader area, Virginia statewide coverage, or several service areas together. Those are different reporting questions. The Census population estimate provides context for the place; it does not show how many people search for a lawyer, which practice areas are sought, or whether a marketing channel produced a matter.
Recommended approach
Bring a written geographic definition to the consultation. Decide whether “Franconia” means the CDP, whether Fairfax County should be a separate reporting view, and whether statewide terms belong in the same decision. Ask to see how location labels would appear beside rankings, calls and leads. This prevents a broad Virginia result from being mistaken for Franconia performance.
