1. Set the geographic scope before reading the numbers
The U.S. Census Bureau records Falmouth as a census-designated place in Virginia, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 5,216 and a margin of error of 871. The recorded county relationship is Stafford County. That is location and population context, not evidence of search demand, competition, calls, matters or revenue. Your dashboard should therefore distinguish a Falmouth target from a Stafford County target and from any broader Virginia target. A city label, county label and service-area label should not be treated as interchangeable. Ask which geographic names are attached to tracked keywords, landing pages, calls and lead records. Also ask how the dashboard displays a lead whose caller serves or lives outside Falmouth but contacts a firm that serves the area.
Recommended approach
Bring a written geographic definition to the consultation: Falmouth CDP, Stafford County, and any other service area the firm intentionally wants to evaluate. Decide which locations belong in reporting and which should remain separate. Do not use the population estimate as a forecast of legal demand.
