1. Start with the geography your firm actually wants to measure
A location filter can change the meaning of a report. Christiansburg is a town, while Montgomery County is a county. Your firm may want to see activity associated with Christiansburg separately from activity associated with the wider county, but that distinction should be decided before anyone interprets a chart. The Census record identifies Christiansburg town and its Montgomery County relationship; it does not say that a call, form or matter originated there. Bosseo’s public ROI Dashboard text describes city data, service-and-city keyword targets and leads by case type. Those capabilities make geographic definitions an important evaluation question, not proof of local performance.
Recommended approach
Ask to see how a proposed dashboard defines a Christiansburg lead, a Montgomery County lead and a case assigned to a service area. Decide whether the firm will report municipality, county, another service area or more than one view. Keep those categories separate from households, individuals and population estimates. Do not use the 22,720-person estimate as a target for calls, matters or revenue.
