1. Set the geographic boundary before you design the intake
Your public service area should distinguish Bridgewater from Rockingham County and from any broader Virginia territory the firm serves. Bridgewater is recorded as a municipality, and its recorded county relationship is Rockingham County. Those are different geographic descriptions, so the intake should not quietly treat every visitor associated with either place as the same type of inquiry. A visitor may live in Bridgewater, have a matter elsewhere in Rockingham County or be contacting a Virginia firm about another location entirely.
Recommended approach
Decide which locations are eligible for each practice area before choosing routing or qualification questions. Use location as a firm-defined intake rule, not as a proxy for legal need. Review whether the visitor should be asked where the incident, property, opposing party or proceeding is located, and identify who reviews an inquiry that falls outside the firm’s stated area.
