Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The U.S. Census Bureau records Blacksburg as a municipality in Virginia and places it in Montgomery County. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 45,446, with a margin of error of 61. That is geographic and population context only. It does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, calls, cases or revenue. For the dashboard, the practical question is how the firm wants location information defined: Blacksburg, Montgomery County, another service area, or a combination. A location label should not silently turn a town measure into a county conclusion.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing performance, ask Bosseo to show how locations are represented in keyword, lead, call and attribution views. Decide whether a city, county or broader service area is the correct unit for each report. Keep the definition visible when partners compare practice areas or marketing channels.
