1. Set the service area around the matters you can accept
Burlington’s recorded county relationship is Chittenden County, but Burlington and Chittenden County are not interchangeable geographic targets. A firm may want inquiries from the city, from elsewhere in the county, or from a wider Vermont service area. Those are separate decisions. Bosseo’s public Local Service Ads page says its program includes practice-area categories and service areas, set deliberately, along with budget and response settings. That makes geographic coverage a practical intake question: where may a potential client contact you, and where would the firm decline or refer the matter?
Recommended approach
Write down the exact places your firm serves and compare them with the places it wants to exclude. Review city, county and Vermont-wide wording separately. Do not use Burlington’s population as a proxy for demand. Instead, ask whether the proposed area matches licensure, travel, remote-consultation policy, court coverage and available staff.
