1. Set the geographic boundary before reviewing news coverage
The Census record places North Salt Lake city in Davis County, Utah. That relationship matters because a North Salt Lake firm may need to decide whether its news coverage should speak only to the municipality, to Davis County, to Utah, or to a wider service area. Those are different editorial choices. A page about a statewide legal change is not the same product decision as a page about an incident in North Salt Lake or a matter affecting Davis County residents. Population does not answer that question, and it should not be used as a proxy for demand or competition. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring for a firm’s state and matching stories to practice areas.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area map to the review. Separate North Salt Lake, Davis County and statewide Utah coverage, then decide which geographic references are appropriate for each practice area. Ask how a proposed page will identify the affected location without implying that the firm serves every Utah resident or every matter in the state.
