1. Start with the exact geographic brief
The Census record identifies Alpine as a municipality in Utah County. That relationship matters because a page about an event in Alpine is not automatically a page for every person in the county, the Salt Lake metropolitan area or Utah generally. A Legal News review should distinguish the event location, the legal jurisdiction, the reader’s likely location and the area the firm actually serves. Population is eligibility evidence only. It cannot tell you how many people search, how many firms compete or how many qualified inquiries a story may produce.
Recommended approach
Write a geographic brief before approving coverage. Separate Alpine, Utah County, any wider Utah service area and any locations the firm does not serve. Ask whether a story is legally relevant to the firm’s clients, not merely nearby. Use that brief to decide which stories should be reviewed and which should be declined.
