1. Define the geographic brief before reviewing stories
Paris is a municipality in Lamar County, Texas. A page about a statewide law change, a Lamar County court development or an incident near Paris can serve different reader needs. They should not be treated as interchangeable. Your firm may also serve people outside Paris or Lamar County, but that coverage should reflect your actual intake policy rather than an assumption based on the city population. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its system matches stories to a firm’s practice areas and state and publishes pages on the firm’s domain after approval. It does not establish that every Paris, Lamar County or Texas story will be relevant to your practice.
Recommended approach
Write a geographic brief that distinguishes Paris, Lamar County, the rest of Texas and any other area your firm intentionally serves. For each practice area, decide which locations justify a page, which require attorney review and which should be excluded. Use the Census record to document the city–county relationship, but do not use the 24,775 estimate to forecast demand or performance.
