1. Start with the correct geographic boundary
The U.S. Census Bureau records Lubbock as a municipality in Lubbock County. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 264,814, with a margin of error of 47. That is population information for Lubbock city; it does not establish legal-news demand, competition, search volume, leads, cases, or revenue. A Legal News decision should therefore separate Lubbock city, Lubbock County, the wider Texas market, and any other area the firm actually serves. A story about a Texas statute may be relevant statewide, while a story involving Lubbock County may call for narrower language. A page should not imply that every Lubbock resident, every county resident, or every Texas reader is a prospective client.
Recommended approach
Before approval, define the geographic relationship for each practice area. Review whether the firm wants coverage framed around Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, or another service area, and avoid expanding that scope merely because a story is newsworthy.
