1. Start with Houston’s actual service boundary
Houston is a municipality in Texas. The 2020–2024 ACS five-year estimate records 2,328,253 residents, with a margin of error of 196. The Census record associates Houston city with Fort Bend County, Harris County, Montgomery County and Waller County. That geographic relationship does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, language preference, case volume or revenue. It does establish why a Houston firm should state its intake boundary precisely. A visitor may be asking about a matter in Houston city, elsewhere in one of those counties, or outside the firm’s accepted geography. Video Intake can be evaluated as a way to ask location and matter questions early, but the firm must decide which answers require review rather than automatic acceptance.
Recommended approach
Write down the locations your firm accepts, the locations it does not accept and the point at which a person must be reviewed by staff or an attorney. Test whether the proposed flow distinguishes Houston city from county-level service areas without suggesting that every person in the listed counties is eligible.
