1. Set the geographic boundary before reading the numbers
Decatur city and Wise County are not interchangeable labels. A firm may serve clients in Decatur, elsewhere in Wise County, or beyond it, but a dashboard should not make those areas appear identical. The Census record identifies Decatur city as a municipality and places it in Wise County; it does not say where prospective clients search, call from, or retain counsel. Ask to see how location is defined in each report and whether a city reference means a search target, a page, a caller’s stated location, or another field. This matters when you compare local activity with broader Texas activity. A count attached to Decatur should not automatically be treated as a count for every household or individual in Wise County.
Recommended approach
Write down the service areas and practice areas your firm wants to evaluate. During a consultation, ask Bosseo to explain which geographic fields the dashboard can display and how those fields are sourced. Treat the Decatur population estimate as context, not as a forecast or demand metric.
