1. Set the geographic boundary before discussing spend
A Sturgis profile should begin with an explicit service-area decision. The Census record identifies Sturgis city as a municipality in Meade County, South Dakota. That relationship matters because “Sturgis,” “Meade County,” and a broader South Dakota service area are not interchangeable targets. A firm may want inquiries from Sturgis only, from other parts of Meade County, or from locations beyond the county. Those are separate choices. The population estimate of 7,086 describes the municipality in the 2020–2024 ACS period; it does not tell you how many people search for a lawyer or whether Local Service Ads will produce qualified inquiries. Bosseo’s public Local Service Ads description says its program includes practice-area categories and service-area targeting.
Recommended approach
Write down the locations you actually want to serve and the locations you do not. Review whether the proposed profile reflects your consultation capacity, court coverage and eligibility rules. Ask Bosseo to evaluate geographic targeting rather than treating the Sturgis population as a forecast.
