1. Start with the geographic definition, not the chart
A Spartanburg law firm may serve the city, the rest of Spartanburg County, or a broader South Carolina market. Those are different reporting questions. The Census record identifies Spartanburg city as a municipality and places it in Spartanburg County; it does not show how many people search for a lawyer, which practice areas are active, or which locations produce signed matters. A useful dashboard therefore needs a clear definition for every location label before anyone interprets a trend. Decide whether “Spartanburg” means the city, the county, or a service area your firm intentionally chose. Do not treat the city’s population estimate as a forecast of marketing opportunity.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how location is represented in the dashboard and how a city, county or broader South Carolina target would be distinguished. During review, write down which geographic labels are measured, which are merely campaign targets, and which are not available for reporting. That definition should appear in acceptance criteria before the dashboard influences budget decisions.
