Define the geographic view before reviewing performance
The Census Bureau records Darlington as a municipality in Darlington County, South Carolina, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 6,120 and a margin of error of 38. That figure describes the city population estimate only. It does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, lead volume or revenue. This distinction matters when a firm serves both Darlington city and clients connected to Darlington County. A dashboard should not blur those geographic scopes into one unexplained total. During review, ask how city and county labels will be represented, which pages or campaigns are associated with each geography, and whether the firm wants to assess the city, the county relationship or another clearly defined service area.
Recommended approach
Create a written geography definition for each report view. Treat Darlington city and Darlington County as separate labels unless the firm deliberately chooses a combined business view. Do not use the Census population estimate as a forecast or performance benchmark.
