1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
Washington city is a municipality in Washington County, Pennsylvania. The 2020–2024 ACS five-year estimate records 13,368 residents, with a margin of error of 27. That is eligibility context, not evidence of search demand, competition, legal need or likely inquiries. A firm should therefore decide whether its news coverage is intended for Washington city, Washington County, a wider Pennsylvania audience or another clearly defined service area. Those are different editorial choices. A statewide legal development may be relevant to a Pennsylvania practice, while an incident in Washington may not be relevant to a firm that does not serve that matter type or location.
Recommended approach
Write a geographic rule for the review: which places count as local, which Pennsylvania developments count as statewide, and when a story is too remote to publish. Review that rule against the firm’s actual engagement and advertising boundaries rather than using the city’s population as a demand proxy.
