1. Start with the geography your phone team actually serves
The Census record concerns Somerset borough, not every person or household in Somerset County. Your firm may serve callers in the borough, throughout Somerset County, or from outside the county. Those are different operating questions. A caller’s location may affect routing, practice-area qualification or callback priority, but the borough population estimate cannot tell you how many people will call, how many need counsel or how many calls your staff currently misses.

Write down the geographic boundaries your intake team uses before configuring call handling. Decide whether the system should ask where the caller is located, where an incident occurred, or which office or practice group they are contacting. Keep those questions separate from assumptions based on population. Review county-wide service claims, referral boundaries and after-hours ownership with your firm before a consultation.
