1. Define what “ROI” means before you read the dashboard
A dashboard can show activity without answering the question a managing partner actually has. For a firm serving Smithfield township in Monroe County, separate geographic reporting from practice-area reporting: a contact associated with Smithfield is not automatically a signed matter, and a Monroe County inquiry is not the same thing as a township inquiry. The public Bosseo page describes leads and matters by case type, along with source and page attribution. It also presents retainers and revenue as dashboard measures. Before relying on those measures, ask how your firm will define a lead, qualified opportunity, signed matter, retained revenue, and excluded contacts.
Recommended approach
Bring your existing definitions to the consultation. Ask Bosseo to map each definition to a dashboard field, identify which values are entered or classified, and state what the dashboard cannot establish. Do not approve a return-on-investment calculation until the numerator, denominator, geography, practice area, and reporting period are explicit.
