1. Set the geographic question before reading the numbers
Scott township is a municipal-town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania. The Census estimate describes the township’s population; it does not establish how many people search for a lawyer, how many inquiries a firm should receive, or which practice areas are active. That distinction matters when reviewing a dashboard that can show service-and-city targets, city data and leads by case type. A location label should not be treated as a demand forecast. During evaluation, ask whether a geographic view refers to Scott township, Columbia County, another Pennsylvania location or a broader service area. Also ask whether the dashboard’s geography describes a keyword target, a caller’s stated location, a page location or an attributed lead source. Those are different fields.
Recommended approach
Create a written geography definition for every reportable view. Use Scott township and Columbia County only where the underlying record supports those names, and keep broader Pennsylvania coverage separate. Do not use the township population as a target, forecast or performance benchmark.
