1. Put Salem’s geography in the right measurement frame
The U.S. Census Bureau records Salem as a municipal-town in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 6,035, with a margin of error of 24. That is a description of the township, not evidence of legal demand, search activity, competition, lead volume or revenue. It also does not establish the geography of every person your firm serves. A Salem firm may need to distinguish Salem township from Westmoreland County, nearby communities and any broader service area it elects to name. Lead records should preserve those distinctions rather than turning one location label into a performance conclusion.
Recommended approach
At consultation, define the geographic fields that matter to intake: where the person lives, where the matter arose, and which service area the firm is prepared to handle. Keep township, county and broader Pennsylvania coverage separate. Then decide which geographic views are appropriate for channel and outcome reviews. Do not use the township population as a forecast.
