Start with the geographic definition, not a generic market label
Your firm may describe its service area as Murrysville, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, or a wider area. Those labels are not interchangeable. The Census records Murrysville as a municipality in Westmoreland County; it does not establish search demand, case volume, competition or revenue. A useful dashboard review therefore begins with the exact geography attached to each tracked target and lead record. Ask whether a city or county field means the search target, the caller’s location, the office location or the location of the matter. Those are different questions.
Recommended approach
Bring your preferred geographic definitions to the consultation. Decide whether Murrysville should be analyzed separately from Westmoreland County and any broader service area. Do not use the municipality’s population estimate as a forecast. Use it only to explain why the location should be defined precisely in your reporting.
