1. Start with Springfield’s actual service boundary
The U.S. Census Bureau records Springfield as a municipality in Lane County. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 61,499, with a margin of error of 60. That describes the city; it does not establish call demand, legal need, competition or likely revenue. It also does not define the full area your firm may serve. Your answering design should therefore begin with the places and client types your firm actually accepts, rather than treating Springfield’s population as a forecast.
Recommended approach
At a consultation, define whether the phone system should identify Springfield callers, Lane County callers, or people from a wider Oregon service area. Review how geography affects consultation eligibility, urgency, conflicts review and callback ownership. Keep the greeting broad enough for your real practice while giving the system clear rules for matters you do not accept.
