1. Set the geographic boundary before you interpret a number
The U.S. Census Bureau records Salem city as a municipality in Ohio, with a 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate of 11,758 and a margin of error of 22. The record identifies relationships with Columbiana County and Mahoning County. Those are geographic facts, not evidence of search demand, legal need, competition, leads or revenue. For an ROI Dashboard, that distinction matters. A firm may serve Salem city, one county, both counties, Ohio more broadly, or another service area. A single “local” total can hide those differences.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how geographic labels would be defined before reviewing performance. Decide whether a Salem target is separate from a Columbiana County target, a Mahoning County target, an Ohio target or another location. Do not approve a geographic roll-up until you know whether the underlying event is a call, form, intake or another recorded contact and whether the location is measured from a search target, a page, an attribution field or a conversation.
