1. Define the territory before setting an LSA budget
A location label can conceal an important service-area decision. Oregon is a city in Ohio, and its recorded county relationship is Lucas County. Your firm may serve Oregon itself, selected parts of Lucas County, or a wider area. Those are different geographic choices and should not be treated as interchangeable. The Census population estimate for Oregon provides a municipal reference point, but it cannot tell you how many people search for a lawyer, how many firms advertise, or how many inquiries an LSA campaign could produce. Bosseo’s public LSA page describes category and geography targeting, including practice-area categories and service areas. That makes geographic definition a practical setup question rather than a population-based forecast.
Recommended approach
List the exact communities and service boundaries your firm is prepared to accept before discussing budget. Separate Oregon from the wider Lucas County service area, then identify locations that should be excluded because they are outside your intake capacity or professional scope. Ask Bosseo to review how those boundaries would be represented in the LSA profile and how out-of-area inquiries would be identified and disputed when appropriate.
