1. Put Marion’s geography in the measurement plan
The U.S. Census Bureau records Marion as a municipality in Ohio’s Marion County, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 35,669 and a margin of error of 104. That is location and population context—not evidence of search demand, competition, calls, cases or revenue. Your dashboard should therefore distinguish Marion city from Marion County and from any broader Ohio or metropolitan targets your firm elects to serve. A city target, a county target and a statewide target should not be silently combined into one performance label.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing results, write down the geographic labels your firm wants to see. Ask which pages, keywords, calls and matters belong to Marion city, which relate to Marion County, and which come from elsewhere. Require any location-based report to show its scope rather than allowing a broad “local” total to stand in for Marion performance.
