1. Set the geographic boundary before discussing spend
Shelby’s recorded relationship is Cleveland County, but a firm’s advertising geography may be narrower, broader, or different from the municipality itself. A Shelby address does not by itself justify targeting every community in Cleveland County, and a countywide service area should not be assumed. Bosseo’s public Local Service Ads page describes category and geography targeting, including deliberate selection of practice areas and service areas. That makes geographic definition an implementation decision rather than a population-based assumption. Review where your attorneys actually accept matters, which locations are outside the firm’s preferred coverage, and whether different practice areas need different boundaries.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area map to the consultation. Separate Shelby from the rest of Cleveland County, identify any other North Carolina locations you serve, and mark areas that should be excluded. Ask how each proposed boundary would be reflected in the program and later in lead-quality reviews.
