1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing a budget
The Census record identifies Raleigh city as a municipality in North Carolina and records relationships with Durham County and Wake County. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 481,031, with a margin of error of 391. That figure is geographic eligibility context, not evidence of search demand, advertising competition, lead volume, case volume, or revenue. For your firm, the practical decision is where you are willing and able to serve. Raleigh city, Wake County, Durham County, and any surrounding area should not be treated as interchangeable. A broad setting may create inquiries from places or case types your office does not want. A narrow setting may exclude people you do serve. Bosseo’s public Local Service Ads page says its program includes practice-area categories and service-area targeting. It also says those settings can be adjusted as part of ongoing management.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area policy to the consultation. Separate Raleigh from Wake County and Durham County, then identify any additional area only if your firm actually accepts matters there. Ask how geographic settings, proximity, and out-of-area inquiries will be reviewed rather than using the Raleigh population estimate as a proxy for demand.
