1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
Lake Norman of Iredell is recorded as a census-designated place in Iredell County, North Carolina. A firm may serve the CDP, other parts of Iredell County, or a broader North Carolina market, but those are different geographic choices. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring for stories in a firm’s state and matching them to practice areas. That makes geographic scope an important approval question: should a page address a North Carolina statute, an Iredell County proceeding, a named roadway, or a matter with no useful local connection?
Recommended approach
Write a geographic policy before publication decisions begin. Separate stories relevant to Lake Norman of Iredell residents from stories relevant to all of Iredell County and from statewide legal developments. Use the firm’s actual service area and the subject of each story, rather than treating the CDP population estimate as evidence of demand.
