1. Start with Kannapolis’s exact geographic relationship
The U.S. Census Bureau records Kannapolis city as a municipality associated with Cabarrus County and Rowan County. That matters because a firm may serve the city, one county, both counties or a broader North Carolina footprint. Those are different coverage choices. A city page should not silently imply that your firm serves every nearby community, and a county plan should not be mistaken for statewide coverage. The city’s 2020–2024 ACS estimate is 57,890 residents, but that number is not evidence of how many people search for a lawyer or which legal services they need.
Recommended approach
Use the consultation to define your service area in plain terms: Kannapolis only, selected cities in Cabarrus County, selected cities in Rowan County, both counties or a wider North Carolina area. Then compare that boundary with your licensing, intake capacity, court coverage and willingness to handle matters from each location. Keep population as planning context rather than a forecast.
