1. Start with Cary’s geographic boundary, not a blended total
The U.S. Census Bureau records Cary as a municipality in North Carolina. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 179,306, with a margin of error of 190. The record associates Cary with Chatham County, Durham County and Wake County. That is useful for deciding how geography should be named and segmented in reporting. It is not evidence of legal demand, search volume, competition, leads, cases or revenue. A dashboard should therefore avoid treating one Cary total as proof that a marketing channel worked. Ask whether a location field means Cary town, one of the listed counties, a metropolitan area, North Carolina generally, or something else. Those are different reporting scopes.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing results, write a geographic dictionary for the firm. Specify whether a call or matter is attributed to Cary, Chatham County, Durham County, Wake County, another place, or an unknown location. Require the dashboard review to show the chosen scope instead of allowing a broad regional total to stand in for Cary performance.
