1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
Your firm may describe its market as Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, or a combination of places. Those labels should not be treated as interchangeable. Yonkers is a city within Westchester County; a county-wide practice area is broader than the municipality, and a New York practice area is broader still. Lead Attribution can help you examine the page, channel and inquiry record associated with a contact, but it does not decide which geographic matters your firm accepts. The local decision is whether your records and reporting use the same service-area definitions as your intake team.
Recommended approach
Before evaluating attribution, write down the geographic labels your firm uses in pages, forms, call handling and matter records. Review whether a Yonkers inquiry can be distinguished from an inquiry elsewhere in Westchester County or New York. Do not use the city’s population estimate as a forecast of lead volume. Use actual inquiry and matter records to decide which geographic distinctions are operationally useful.
