1. Start with the site you actually need to operate
A hosting review should begin with an inventory, not a promise about rankings. Record the website’s domains and subdomains, content management system, databases, forms, scripts, media, redirects, SSL configuration, DNS records and any third-party services that must continue working. If your firm serves South Huntington within Suffolk County, make sure the site’s geographic information is accurate and consistent; hosting cannot correct unclear service-area definitions. Bosseo says it can host sites it did not build and describes migration of files, databases, DNS, SSL and email records as part of its migration approach. Those items still need to be identified and tested for your particular site.
Recommended approach
Ask for a written current-state inventory and a proposed target-state inventory. Do not approve a move until you know what is included, what requires access from your current provider, and which items are outside the proposed scope.
